West Michigan Kayaking Club – Notice of Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver

Participation in any West Michigan Kayaking Club events is entirely voluntary and self-supported. By attending or participating in any club event, each individual acknowledges and agrees to assume all risks associated with paddlesports activities, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, property damage, or death.

Participants are solely responsible for their own safety at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, possessing appropriate skills, experience, physical fitness, and health necessary to safely participate in any kayaking or related activity. Individuals should carefully evaluate their own abilities and conditions before choosing to participate.

West Michigan Kayaking Club, its organizers, coordinators, volunteers, and affiliates assume no responsibility or liability for the safety of participants, their equipment, or their actions during any event.

All events are strictly self-supported. Participants are responsible for providing their own safety equipment, including but not limited to a properly fitted personal flotation device (PFD), paddling gear, emergency supplies, and any other provisions necessary for safe participation.

By attending any West Michigan Kayaking Club event, participants acknowledge that they understand and accept these terms and agree to participate at their own risk.

What are the most important rules for club members?

All participants attending any West Michigan Kayaking Club event must be 18 years of age or older and are required to wear a properly fitted Personal Flotation Device (PFD) at all times while on the water.

By attending any club event, you acknowledge and accept full responsibility for your own safety. These events are 100% self-supported, and the West Michigan Kayaking Club, its organizers, and volunteers assume no responsibility or liability for injury, loss, or damage of any kind.

Alcohol and drug use are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated at any club event.

What should someone do in an emergency during a trip?

These trips are self-supported. If you are having a problem or a medical emergency, you should dial 911 immediately.

Are there essential items kayakers must have?

The West Michigan Kayaking Club requires you to wear your own PFD. The consumption of alcohol during any of our events is 100% prohibited.

What does "self-supported" mean for our trips?

Self-supported means that each participant is responsible for their own gear, provisions, and safety during club events. While we paddle together, there is no official support crew, and members should be prepared to handle their own needs and minor issues.

Paddle safely, paddle often

We hope these safety guidelines help you prepare for a great kayaking experience with us. By adhering to these rules, you contribute to a safe and enjoyable environment for all members. Thank you for being a part of the West Michigan Kayaking Club.
