Supporting Michigan Water Trails: Adventure, Stewardship, and Community
West Michigan Kayaking Club
Wild Rivers. Rugged Trails. Real Adventure.
Michigan is blessed with some of the most incredible freshwater resources in the world. From the vast shoreline of the Great Lakes to winding forest rivers and peaceful inland lakes, our state offers endless opportunities for exploration and adventure.
At West Michigan Kayaking Club, we believe kayaking is about much more than simply getting on the water. It is about connecting people with nature, exploring Michigan’s incredible waterways, protecting our natural resources, and building a community of outdoor enthusiasts who share a passion for adventure.
Our motto reflects who we are:
Wild Rivers. Rugged Trails. Real Adventure.
We seek out the places that challenge us, inspire us, and remind us why Michigan’s waterways are worth protecting. Whether paddling a remote river, hiking a rugged trail, or camping under the stars, our goal is to create unforgettable outdoor experiences while promoting responsible recreation and environmental stewardship.
Supporting Michigan Great Lakes Water Trails
The Michigan Great Lakes Water Trails initiative was created through the dedication of volunteers, communities, conservation organizations, government agencies, and paddling enthusiasts who share a common vision: connecting Michigan’s waterways and improving access to our incredible freshwater coastline.
The goal is to create a statewide network of water trails that encourages safe recreation, increases public access, promotes environmental stewardship, and helps people discover the beauty of Michigan’s Great Lakes shoreline.
This collaborative effort has brought together organizations and individuals who understand the importance of preserving Michigan’s waterways for future generations.
The work of these volunteers and organizations continues to make Michigan water trails safer, more accessible, and easier for paddlers, anglers, outdoor enthusiasts, and visitors to enjoy.
At West Michigan Kayaking Club, we proudly support this mission.

At West Michigan Kayaking Club, we share the same passion for protecting and promoting Michigan’s waterways.
Our members paddle hundreds of miles each year while exploring some of the most scenic rivers, lakes, and Great Lakes shorelines in the state. Every trip provides an opportunity to experience Michigan’s natural beauty while encouraging responsible recreation and conservation.
Our commitment goes beyond organizing kayaking trips. We believe every paddler has a responsibility to help protect the places we explore.
West Michigan Kayaking Club supports Michigan waterways by:
- Organizing West Michigan kayaking adventures throughout the year.
- Exploring Michigan rivers, lakes, and Great Lakes shorelines.
- Promoting safe river kayaking practices and paddling education.
- Encouraging personal flotation device (PFD) use and responsible boating habits.
