What an incredible weekend!

Our Pine River Kayaking & Camping Adventure was another huge success, bringing together an amazing group of club members for an unforgettable weekend of camping, whitewater, and adventure in the heart of Northern Michigan.

The Pine River is one of Michigan’s most exciting waterways and is widely known as the second-fastest flowing river in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. With swift current, continuous Class I-II rapids, technical turns, sweepers, and narrow channels, it provided an exciting and memorable adventure from start to finish.

A Weekend of Adventure

Our weekend began at Coolwater on the Pine Campground, where members gathered to set up camp, enjoy the evening around the fire, and prepare for two days of paddling one of Michigan’s premier whitewater rivers.

Saturday’s adventure covered the iconic Dobson Bridge to Low Bridge section, approximately 12 miles of fast-moving water featuring exciting rapids, beautiful forest scenery, and a stop at the massive sand dune near Peterson Bridge. The river delivered exactly what we came for—continuous action, outstanding scenery, and plenty of smiles.

Sunday raised the excitement even higher as we paddled the challenging Elm Flats to Low Bridge route, covering more than 20 miles of winding river through beautiful forests and remote wilderness. It was an incredible day filled with adventure, teamwork, and unforgettable scenery.

Safety Always Comes First

Every West Michigan Kayaking Club event begins with a focus on safety. Coast Guard-approved PFDs are always required, and our events remain drug- and alcohol-free so everyone can enjoy a safe and memorable experience on the water.

More Than Just Kayaking

While the river itself was spectacular, weekends like this are about much more than miles paddled.

They’re about sharing campfires after a long day on the water, encouraging one another through every mile, swapping stories, making new friends, and building a community of people who love exploring Michigan’s wild places together.

These are the adventures that keep members coming back year after year.

Looking Ahead

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event another success. Your positive attitudes, teamwork, and love for adventure made for an outstanding weekend.

If you missed this trip, don’t worry—we have many more exciting adventures planned throughout the season. From endurance paddles and river camping expeditions to hiking challenges and wilderness adventures, there’s always another opportunity to explore Michigan with us.

We can’t wait to see everyone on the next adventure!
