The 32nd Annual Quiet Adventures Symposium: Celebrating Michigan’s Outdoor Adventure Community
Saturday, March 6, 2027 | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Farm Bureau Pavilion – Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan
Michigan’s outdoor adventure season may still be a few weeks away in early March, but that doesn’t mean the adventure has to wait. For paddlers, hikers, cyclists, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts across the Great Lakes region, one of the year’s most anticipated outdoor gatherings is returning.
The 32nd Annual Quiet Adventures Symposium is scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2027, bringing together people who share a passion for exploring the outdoors, discovering new adventures, and protecting the natural places that make Michigan special.
The West Michigan Kayaking Club is planning to attend, and we’re inviting our members to join us for a day of outdoor inspiration, education, and camaraderie.
A Celebration of Michigan’s Outdoor Recreation Community
The Quiet Adventures Symposium is much more than a kayaking event. It celebrates the many ways people experience the outdoors without motors, bringing together individuals and organizations from throughout Michigan and the surrounding Great Lakes region.
Attendees can explore exhibits, meet outdoor organizations, discover equipment and gear, and learn from people with years of experience in their respective outdoor pursuits.
Activities and interests represented at previous symposiums have included:
- Kayaking, canoeing, and paddle sports
- Backpacking, hiking, and camping
- Bicycle touring and recreational cycling
- Fishing and other outdoor pursuits
- Outdoor skills, safety, and education
- Conservation and environmental stewardship
- Outdoor clubs, organizations, and adventure groups
Whether you’re an experienced river paddler, a backcountry camper, a cyclist, or someone looking for a new outdoor hobby, the symposium offers an opportunity to connect with people who share your interests.
Why Kayakers Should Attend
For Michigan kayakers, winter is a great time to look ahead to the coming paddling season.
It’s an opportunity to learn about new waterways, discover equipment, exchange ideas, and connect with other paddlers. It’s also a chance to learn from experienced adventurers and organizations working to improve access to Michigan’s outdoor resources.
Michigan is home to thousands of miles of rivers, extensive Great Lakes shorelines, inland lakes, and established water trails. There is always another river to explore, another destination to discover, and another adventure waiting around the next bend.
The symposium brings many of those opportunities together under one roof.
Join the West Michigan Kayaking Club
The West Michigan Kayaking Club is organizing an informal member gathering for those interested in attending the symposium together.
This is a great opportunity to meet fellow club members outside of the paddling season, put faces to names, exchange trip ideas, and start looking ahead to another year of Michigan river adventures.
Whether you’ve been paddling with the club for years or recently joined, you’re welcome to participate.
A quick clarification: The West Michigan Kayaking Club is sharing this event and coordinating member attendance. We are not the event sponsor, organizer, or host. The symposium is organized by the Quiet Adventures Society.

Looking Ahead to Another Season of Adventure
At the West Michigan Kayaking Club, we believe outdoor adventure is about more than simply getting out on the water. It’s about exploring Michigan’s rivers, trails, and natural spaces, building friendships, developing skills, and discovering places you might never have experienced otherwise.
Events like the Quiet Adventures Symposium help bring Michigan’s outdoor community together and remind us why protecting and enjoying these resources matters.
We look forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new outdoor enthusiasts, and getting excited about another season of paddling, camping, hiking, and exploration.
Join us in East Lansing on March 6, 2027. We’ll see you around the next bend!
