23½ Miles Through the Remote Muskegon River
The sixth paddle is in the books!
Tim and I continued our journey along the Muskegon River with another incredible day on the water.
This time, we tackled the stretch from Pine Road to Crawford Park, taking us deeper into one of the more remote sections of the Muskegon River.
Our day covered 23½ miles, spending approximately 6 hours on the water, just as predicted.
This stretch of river was peaceful, warm, and surrounded by the quiet beauty of Northern Michigan. With fewer signs of civilization and long stretches of untouched scenery, it really felt like we were getting away from it all
🍂 A Little Less Wildlife, A Lot More Color
Wildlife sightings were a little light compared with some of our previous paddles, but the fall scenery more than made up for it.
The changing colors were beginning to really pop, adding another layer of beauty to the river as we continued downstream.
There’s something special about paddling through Michigan in the fall. The warm sunshine, colorful trees, quiet water, and miles of wilderness make these long-distance river adventures hard to beat.
This remote stretch of the Muskegon offered exactly what we were looking for—a peaceful day on the water surrounded by the changing landscape of Northern Michigan.

Another Section of the Muskegon Complete
One of the highlights of Paddle #6 wasn’t just the river—it was the opportunity to spend six hours exploring another remote section of the Muskegon.
Another 23½ miles is now behind us.
As we continue working our way toward the headwaters, each paddle is giving us a better appreciation for just how diverse this river really is—from faster current and rapids to quiet, remote wilderness stretches like this one.
Every mile brings a new perspective and another piece of the Muskegon River story.
Paddle #6 is complete. More river awaits.
